What is the difference between Augmented Reality and virtual reality

Augmented reality :

Typical applications of AR include primarily the navigation systems or GPS to locate and guide the user to the required destination. Today, Google glass and heads-up displays in car windshields are the most well-known consumer AR products. AR is popularly used in gaming. With recent advances in gaming technology and computational power the usage of AR for growing exponentially.
